A small dining room that cooks by the calendar

September is when white shrimp run in the sounds and muscadines ripen on the fence line, so that is what arrives at your table.

Chef Wren Calloway writes one menu for the whole room in the last week of each month. If an ingredient can’t come from within a day’s drive of Savannah, it has to earn its place on the plate.

Eight seats facing the kitchen, no booking needed

Dishes from the tasting menu one at a time, alongside oysters and a glass of wine. Walk in from 5pm; seats go in the order people arrive.

Private dining

The Tabby Room

One long table for up to fourteen, behind the dining room, in walls of oyster shell and lime plaster.

For birthdays, rehearsal dinners and retirements. The tasting menu is cooked for your party alone, with a server who looks after nobody else. On Mondays and Tuesdays the whole restaurant can be yours.

How dinner at Aldersea runs

  1. Arrive

    Seatings run from 5:30 to 8:45. Come a few minutes early and we’ll pour you something while the candles on your table are lit.

  2. Nine courses

    Plates that move from raw and bright to rich and slow, with bread from the afternoon bake between them.

  3. No hurry

    Two and a half hours, a little longer for six. There’s no second seating waiting on your table.

  4. The bill

    A 20% service charge is added and shared across the kitchen and the floor. There’s no need to tip on top of it.
